Understrength Hornets crash out of Cup

Mackay, under pressure from Bothroyd, stumbled as he sought to head clear and the ball bounced through to Keogh, who, from 20 yards out, produced a delightful right-footed lob that gave Richard Lee little chance to make it 1-0.

Watford's first opening came three minutes later when the ball broke to Jobi McAnuff and he drove inside off the left flank but flashed a right-footed attempt from the edge of the area well wide.

But the Hornets could have found themselves two down in the 15th minute when Neil Collins found Jarvis in far too much space down the left, and the former Gillingham wide-man surged into the area before cutting the ball back to Bothroyd, but he placed his shot too close to Lee.

Within two minutes though, Watford were so nearly back on terms.

AFL legend violent in Vegas, too, say US police

US authorities yesterday revealed Carey spent one night in custody accused of battery, after being placed under citizen's arrest in October 2004.

The revelation is the latest in a string of controversies to plague the former Kangaroos and Adelaide Crows superstar of Australian rules, whom police had to subdue with capsicum spray in Melbourne last Sunday after a domestic dispute.

Also yesterday, it emerged that Carey's girlfriend Kate Neilson excused her boyfriend for allegedly glassing her in Miami last October as a "simple misunderstanding of an earlier event in our relationship".

In an statement yesterday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Carey got into trouble in the US gambling capital more than three years ago. "On October 17, 2004, a misdemeanour battery report was filed against Mr Carey," the statement said.

Hip-Hop Rumors: The Late Edition! Diddy's New Girl! Give Saigon Free?

Somebody I know is in South Africa and told me that “Iron" Mike Tyson is out there too! Guess what? Iron Mike has cause a whirlwind of issues, because of his rape conviction! ANC (African National Congress) president Jacob Zuma cancelled a party for Mike in South Africa after the people protested his co-signage of the ex-champ. That's a rumor, because according to the statement released, Zuma didn't show due to a more pressing engagement. Oh well, Mike is still Mike! He's over there doing some boxing commentary and I heard that Winnie Mandela has no issues with the Champ. What more is there? I don't know, but its not a lot.

FREE SAIGON, FREE SAIGON?

Rumor has it, Saigon's album has been pushed back again. I understand that Saigon is very unhappy with his position at Atlantic and currently looking for a new deal.

Meanwhile, the polar bears rescue Aloo-ki's dog team and bring them back to the igloo, where they discover evidence of the intruder and quickly locate the sleeping girl. Awakened to find herself face-to-face with three huge bears, Aloo-ki rushes outdoors, gathers her huskies, and waves a thank-you before hurrying away on her sled. The plot remains true to the progression of the traditional tale and the narrative moves swiftly. Side panels depict regional fauna and help convey the action. Aloo-ki and many of the animals wear clothing inspired by Inuit designs, adding splashes of color to the snowy backdrops. This book is sure to be appreciated by the author's fans and those seeking multicultural variations on the Goldilocks story.—Piper Nyman, Brookmeade Elementary School, Nashville, TN

Face Blind

Now that he had long hair and a wild-looking scarf on his head, he could recognize his image. He felt the beginnings of an identity.

It gave him the confidence to start seeing doctors. He wanted to know if there was something wrong with his brain. His vision was fine, they told him – 20/20. One doctor suggested he might have emotional problems and referred him to a psychiatrist. In the medical literature, there were a few reports of head-injury and stroke victims who'd lost their ability to recognize faces. No one, as far as the doctors knew, had ever been born with the condition.

Conventional medicine, in other words, got him nowhere. So Choisser posted a message about his experiences on a Usenet group devoted to people with neurological problems. His subject line was "Trouble Recognizing Faces." After a few months, in late 1996, he received a solitary reply.

Science Tough Roads Loom Ahead for U.S. Pharmaceutical Giants

Traditionally, one of the largest and most profitable industries in America has been pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical companies are interesting in that they make products that no one wants, but hundreds of thousands of people must have to survive.

The pharmaceutical industry as we know it is due for some big changes. Last month, DailyTech reported that former Intel CEO Andrew S. Grove ripped the pharmaceutical industry for its underperforming research operations. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that high profile medications coming off patent between now and 2012 will result in a loss of about $67 billion USD in income for top U.S. pharmaceutical companies. That amount is about half what the pharmaceutical industry made in combined sales during 2007.

Few will feel sorry for the declining sales of these pharmaceutical giants since many Americans are literally forced to decide between food and their life saving medications each month.

Hudgens beats Howard to online glory

Forget climate change and politics — the three most important things on the minds of Australians are Facebook, YouTube and Summer Heights High.

And users of Google Australia care more for Disney-star-turned-nude photo-luminary Vanessa Hudgens than they do about their outgoing prime minister.

The internet search giant today released its end-of-year list of the most searched-for terms, revealing among other things that New South Wales cares most about charities, Victoria about beaches and Western Australia about cheap hotels.
